New Website Up and Running as planned. Goal reached!

I have been blogging since August. It has been important to me to document my journey and also to get the thoughts out of my mind that try to call their way out. It gives me a way to be creative and also to think in the big picture.
I knew that at some point I will have my own domain name and be ready to roll. Well, rolling time has come.
In this seventh week of my 13 virtues project, I have completed working on learning, which included a course on being a better blogger. In that course, it was recommended that you have your own domain name and get everything set up with a WordPress base background. Perfect. I had already been working in WordPress, but on the free website. I was already familiar with it before, as I had been blogging for myself, and others, as well.
I went with Go Daddy, which has pretty good customer support for WordPress-based websites. It was a little wonky at first for me, but after watching the WordPress, 101 videos in their help section it was more comfortable for me to get in and start creating pages and making it look the way I wanted to.
I am comfortable enough that if somebody came to my website, I wouldn’t be embarrassed like I didn’t clean up yet. I know you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, but it’s a pretty good blog with Contento already there.
My next project is exporting my WordPress blog posts from my old blog to this new home. Because I had a free WordPress site, there is really no option for exporting your stuff in an XML file, which is what is needed to import. I am hoping that there is some WordPress plug in to do just that, and I will ask around on the WordPress forums. For now I am pretty damn happy and proud of myself for doing this. I am still blogging the same way, speaking this into my phone in a text editor, then copying and pasting it into WordPress on my new website. Mission accomplished.
Do you blog? Do you have your own domain? This is all new for me, I’d appreciate your input. Let’s connect!
