Lunar Eclipse 2022 – first Time ever!

Total Lunar Eclipse 2022, Wayne, NJ

I have never seen a total lunar eclipse. When Frank, a hardcore early am member at Planet Fitness, approached me on the way out as I was going to the freeweight area, he announced that he was going to check out tor exlipe at 5:17.

By the time I got to the outside on two crutches and out the two doors, it was 5:20am.I looked in the sky toward where the other few that were there, I Swe a bare white slice of the moon. It was on the bottom right and through the trees, I thought I had missed it. You could barely see anything. But I guess that’s what happens in a lunar eclipse – the earth blocks the sun from lighting up the moon.

And then I saw it.  It was like a sunrise coming up over the moon.  It started on the left and then lit up the moon on fire.  I was not able to take the shit with my iPhone as I had to lean on the column and self support.  The angle I needed was in the lot to my right a few feet because my view was partially blocked.

I handed my phone to Mike, the guy I see every morning during the week at PF who works night shift.  He gladly took my iPhone and took the shot for me.  His eyes were in amazement.

I am thankful every day that I can get my myself to the gym and have a plan that is working for me to keep me walking another day/

I am also thankful for a community who welcomes me and includes me as if I am just another gym member, who might need a little looking after once in a while.

This experience was so incredible to be part of but also to capture.  Even though I wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger on this shot, I was the one who planned it and made it happen.

If you ever want something to happen, make a plan, stick to it and don’t be afraid to ask for help:  you’d be amazed at the things you didn’t know you could do!

By the way, next total eclipse visible from the Americas isn’t until 2025. I’ve seen partial eclipses before but I’ll hold my calendar open for now on the date!
