Hey everybody, Vickie here. Just wanted to record a quick video outside Planet Fitness where I just finished my workout and I’m on my way home but I didn’t even start the car yet, and I wanted to record this because I know that when I get home, I’m not going to be able to uh have a chance to sit down and quiet and peace and record this. So sometimes you just have to do what you have, where you are with what you’ve got. So I I had a thought this morning when I was working out using a machine for something different. I took something from personal, from physical therapy, with me to the gym.

I do something called terminal knee extensions, and this is an exercise that I do standing with a cable wrapped with a resistance band wrapped around my thigh, and I just extend and I focus all of my effort on straightening my knee and controlling it because I have a problem with hyperextension and I can’t control my knee. It’s kind of loosey-goosey so I was thinking you know how can I do this at the gym, not always in PT. I’m there three days a week and I finish next week but um I just went on the leg extension machine and I just went to the very top of the contraction at the top and I was on a low weight like 10 pounds.

And I just went Maybe not even a quarter of the way down and then just straight back up and I did this for four sets of 12 reps which was 48 of them. So that was that was a lot of volume. I don’t know how I’ll be feeling tomorrow for physical therapy but I at least had to try. I wanted to get it out of the way and see if it was something I could do so I could speak to the physical therapist tomorrow to see if it would work for me. And you don’t have to use any machine at the gym the way that the little QR code says you have to use it.

You make those machines work for you. You know they’re there to get you stronger and to avoid injury. Sometimes you just need to do it your way. So I’m very fortunate that I’m an NASM certified personal trainer and this knowledge helps me in whatever space I am to know what I can do safely and with maximum effort to get stronger without hurting myself. So do you have any questions about exercise or you know want to just ask me a question that you might have a struggle with, just give me a shout out. I’ll talk to you soon. Thanks for watching. Bye!
