Cadense Sneakers: Bringing Hope to My MS Journey, One Step at a Time
Over the years, I’ve tried just about everything to help with my drop foot and weak muscles, from electronic devices for my hamstring to knee braces and AFOs. I’d invested in countless gadgets, all hoping for that breakthrough that would make walking easier. It’s almost funny to think that after all those complex solutions, the game-changer turned out to be something as simple as nylon plates added to a rubber sneaker.
These Cadense sneakers give me a whole new approach to walking. With each step, the nylon plate allows my foot to slide rather than stick, keeping me from tripping. There’s a learning curve, though; I’ve had to adapt to how I use my foot, especially when getting up from a seated position. I never realized how much I relied on the front of my foot until I had to adjust to moving differently.
This isn’t just about walking; it’s about learning how to navigate life again, similar to when I learned to drive with hand controls. With these sneakers, I’m finding that I can still do things – I just have to do them differently. I look forward to discovering everything I can do now with a little more ease.
Living with MS means adapting constantly, but I’m grateful to have tools that help me stay active and keep up with my nine-year-old son. He’s pretty energetic, and I want him to see me as someone who keeps moving forward. Cadense sneakers might be a small change, but for me, they’re a big win, helping me keep pace with life’s demands and giving me hope for all the things I’ll still be able to do.
