Our Family’s Heartwarming New Traditions: Coloring Joy and Honoring Heroes

Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.

Caroling for Seniors with the Boy Scouts

This year, our family started two incredibly special traditions. The first was a delightful visit to a local nursing home with my son’s Boy Scout troop at Christmas. It was a magical experience watching the Scouts color in pages I had designed. Their excitement in sharing these vibrant pages with the elderly residents was a sight to behold. The smiles and gratitude from the seniors, as they received these hand-colored treasures, filled our hearts with warmth and joy.

Wreaths Across America in Totowa, NJ

Our second new tradition was a touching and meaningful participation in Wreaths Across America. Together with volunteers nationwide, we placed wreaths on veterans’ graves, a sincere gesture of honor and remembrance. Each wreath laid was a moment of connection to our community’s history and a heartfelt tribute to those who bravely served our country.

Both of these traditions have brought us closer as a family and deepened our sense of community. From spreading happiness with art to remembering our nation’s heroes, these experiences have been incredibly fulfilling. They’ve reminded us of the joy in simple acts of kindness and the importance of honoring the past, making our holiday season all the more meaningful.
