Let Your Creativity Flow: Why Coloring with My Kid Reminded Me What Really Matters

Let Your Creativity Flow — one color, one sparkle, one moment at a time. Sean and I finished this page together, and it’s a reminder that creating with love is the most powerful kind of art.

This morning, I did something small that turned out to be kind of huge—I sat down with Sean, and we colored.

No agenda. No masterpiece in mind. Just us, a pile of markers, and a page that said: “Let Your Creativity Flow.”

And that’s exactly what we did.

At first, it was about filling in the lines. Picking colors. Adding glitter (because of course). But pretty quickly, it became something more. I saw how focused he was. How calm. How proud he got every time we finished a section. And I felt something shift in me, too.

Because when you create with your child, you’re not just making art—you’re building connection. You’re slowing down. You’re stepping out of the noise and into the now.

And if you’re like me—living with a chronic illness, juggling energy, trying to do all the things—it’s easy to forget how powerful that kind of presence can be.

Focused. Calm. Creative. Watching Sean dive into this coloring page reminded me how powerful simple moments can be. This is mindfulness in action—and the best kind of connection.

But this morning, with glitter pens, green tea, and laughter, I remembered.

Creativity doesn’t have to be perfect.

It doesn’t have to be productive.

It just has to be yours.

So here’s your reminder: Sit down. Color. Doodle. Make a mess. Do it with your kid or by yourself—but do it. Let your creativity flow, no pressure, no outcome, just joy.

You might be surprised by how healing it feels.
