How Flow Keeps Me Going With MS: From Morning Mindset to the Gym

Let’s talk about flow. Not just the kind that shows up in productivity hacks or yoga classes — I’m talking about the kind of flow that keeps you moving with intention when you’re living with MS.
Every single morning, before I even think about starting my day, I make a choice: I choose to reset. That reset looks different depending on how I feel. Sometimes it’s meditation. Sometimes it’s visualization. Sometimes I just need to shift my entire vibe. But the goal is always the same: get happy. Not “fake happy,” but a true shift in energy — because when I start my day in flow, everything works better.
Flow is more than a mindset for me — it’s a survival strategy.
MS makes movement clunky. It makes energy precious. So, I’ve had to learn to move like water — flowing around obstacles, conserving energy, and finding the smoothest path from point A to point B.
That’s not just poetic. That’s my gym strategy.
Every machine, every crutch placement, every step is mapped out. If I waste energy getting from one machine to the next, that’s less strength I have for the actual workout. And honestly? It’s a risk. I could fall. I could injure myself. So I flow — not just because it feels good, but because it’s necessary.
This idea of flow carries into my whole life.
When I color in the morning, it resets my brain. I pop on Insight Timer and listen to something nourishing — affirmations, manifestation, visualization. I don’t have to focus hard. It’s not school. It just flows in while I create something with my hands. And suddenly, I feel better. More centered. Lighter.
Even the lighting matters. I’ve figured out how to angle my little lamp on top of a Lysol bottle (no judgment) so the light is exactly where I need it. It’s the little things. The way I set my space, the timing, the vibe. It’s all about creating flow.
And timing matters too. I’m up early because the gym at 5 AM has a different energy. Everyone’s focused. No chaos. No distractions. Just flow.
But life isn’t just gym sessions and mindfulness. Today, I’m taking my son to the doctor. He’s got a sore throat — possibly an infection. And like any parent knows, managing a household, caring for a kid, making dinner, running errands — it’s a full-time job by itself.
And on top of all that? I’m building my business — Chronic Radiance. I’m creating mugs, shirts, and refining my designs so I can inspire other people living with chronic illness. Just like my books. This month, I sold seven copies of my MS Strong coloring book — and I didn’t even advertise it. Here’s the link if you want to check it out.

Here’s the truth: MS forces you to become an efficient user of your energy. Flow isn’t optional — it’s how we survive. But when you tap into it — when you trust it — everything gets easier. Not perfect. Not always smooth. But doable.
So here’s your reminder today:
Where can you create more flow in your life?
What’s one area where you’re leaking energy that you could reroute with more intention?
Let’s talk about it in the comments.
