Yesterday, after receiving a cortisone shot for my frozen shoulder, I found myself navigating the day in a wheelchair. The pain was real, a reminder of injuries from two years ago that had slowly chipped away at my mobility. But while my shoulder was limited, my spirit wasn’t.
Slowing Down to Speed Up Healing
This morning, the pain was palpable, shifting my usual gym visits and school runs into a slower, quieter pace. And in that forced stillness, I found something unexpected—gratitude.
A planned lunch with a friend turned into something even more meaningful—a home visit filled with comfort and ease. She welcomed my temporary wheelchair situation without hesitation, and in that simple act of acceptance, I felt a wave of relief.
As we sat together, I shared my passion for coloring books, something that has become a therapeutic outlet for me. I gave her a copy of my gratitude coloring book, and the joy in her eyes reminded me why I create.
Turning Limitations into Creativity
The day continued, and rather than feeling trapped, I channeled my energy into creativity. I worked on backgrounds for a new Psalms-inspired coloring book, using my stillness as fuel for artistic reflection.
By the evening, I found myself folding laundry—a simple act, but a sign of progress. The pain was still there, but so was healing.
Lessons from the Day
This experience reminded me of a few key truths:
✔ Slowing down is sometimes necessary for growth.
✔ Accepting help is not weakness—it’s wisdom.
✔ Creativity and passion don’t pause just because life throws challenges our way.
I couldn’t keep up with my usual routine today, but tomorrow brings new hope. And with that, I move forward—one moment, one creation, and one act of gratitude at a time.
