Day 3 with My Motorized Wheelchair: Cooking, Writing, and Small Wins at the Gym
Day three with my motorized wheelchair brought a mix of insights, small victories, and unexpected challenges. What started as a home-bound Sunday quickly turned into a culinary adventure, proving that mobility doesn’t limit creativity in the kitchen.

Cooking Without Limits
With my wheelchair offering comfort and support, I whipped up lasagna for my mom and a lactose-free cassoulet for my husband. The kitchen was bustling—maybe a little too lively for a Sunday—but in the end, we had a meal worth the chaos.
Mobility Meets Productivity
The wheelchair wasn’t just a game-changer for cooking—it also made a difference in my writing routine. With better stability and reduced strain, I felt more focused and committed to my goal of writing a book a week.
Unexpected Challenges & Small Wins
Of course, not everything was smooth sailing. A stack of boxes outside the boiler room turned into a surprise obstacle course, leading to a dropped crutch—a moment that reminded me just how different stability feels between crutches and the wheelchair.
But then, a win: 250 steps at the gym, and for the first time, no pain in my left foot. Less strain from crutches might actually be helping my body heal in ways I didn’t expect.
Learning to Navigate a New Normal
Day three was a lesson in adapting, proving that change comes with challenges, but also surprising benefits. Whether it’s cooking, writing, or moving through the gym, I’m learning to make this new mobility journey work for me.
