Empowering talk with a friend on building an online brand.

I finished up on last week’s virtue of journaling, for my 13 virtues project. It’s going pretty well so far and using my blog to document it all is definitely going to help me in the future to implement it all. This week I am going to focus on learning.

To start off my week of focusing on my learning virtue and never ending quest to learn, a friend at the gym wanted my help building an online presence and wanted to do more online including affiliate marketing.  I wanted to take a look at everything so I had kind of an audit in my mind of what pieces were already physically present online.

I also needed to understand more about where he wanted to go. He is a good friend at the gym, and Is an amazing physical shape.  I looked at the profile on Instagram and also wanted to just see where I could check out online. I needed to wait until we met.

We met at Panera, my I haven’t done online marketing in over 10 years. It used to come naturally to me.  I knew exactly what to do and where to go. I didn’t want to just wing it when we sat down, so I needed to have in my mind a mental framework of what to write down, including the spokes and hubs, like a brain map of what the center of the focus would be.   I was worried that I would be not cognitively available to do it after my work out in the morning for two hours. Maybe it was the green tea. Maybe it was the food that I had at Panera, my Vickie bowl. (egg white sandwich with spinach, avocado, tomatoes, but no bread. Everything is in a bowl and I just add on an extra egg.)

I don’t want to divert my attention, so I’ll continue. It all happened.  A good two hours. He seemed to be really understanding what I was saying. We sat on both sides of his laptop. And he was taking notes. I was taking notes in my book. He was definitely learning from me. And I was learning from him.

I needed to learn what was needed and be available, and not just spit out unnecessary information. It turned out that I have still a lot of valuable information up in my head. When we finished, we were planning to meet again, but I knew that he needed to do some things first. I actually gave him homework. I wanted him to create a blog, and I gave him some direction on how to create his blog posts.

He has a lot of good things to say, they are just out there in social media not being captured. This is where the blog comes in. I looked at his website that he currently has and it’s hosted by a plan that does have a WordPress framework. So he has to do some homework about how to get it to happen.  I have no doubt of his capabilities.

I created a document where we can collaborate, and I put sections I talked about the tools and apps. One of them is Pixabay, where he can get free images and backgrounds for posts. To make the quotes for his spiritual part of his brand.  He can use the photos on Pixabay in Wordswag, to create eye-catching post for quotes definitely was surprised that I still knew as much as I did still and was able to present it in a cohesive way.  And that I was also to capture it at the end in a Google document on Google Drive and share the link with him so that he could collaborate. It was pretty professional and surprised me. Right now I still need to take care of my health and physical being, but at some point maybe I can do some work again, just not quite yet.  I was sincerely happy for my first experience in learning again, and. my next venture in the 13 virtues project.
