The Battle Just to Get Dressed

Some mornings, the battle starts before I even stand up.
This morning hit different.
My body felt like it had been fighting a war all night. Allergies were full-blown — voice raspy, post-nasal drip nonstop, and my muscles were locked up like concrete. I sat on the edge of my bed just trying to will my body to cooperate.
Getting dressed shouldn’t be this hard.
But with MS, it is.
It took me forever just to put on my pants. My legs felt stiff, my coordination was off, and the energy it took to lift one foot — then the other — felt like running a marathon. And while I fumbled with my shoes, I kept hearing that old voice creep in: “Just stay home. You don’t need to go. You can do it later.”
But I didn’t listen.
I got dressed. I got out the door. And I made it to the gym.
That was my win today.
And I want to say this loud for anyone who’s facing a fight before they even leave the house:
You’re not lazy. You’re not weak. You’re not making excuses.
You’re navigating a body that doesn’t always cooperate — and that takes serious strength.
So if all you did this morning was put one foot in front of the other, I see you.
If getting dressed was a battle, but you showed up anyway?
You’re a damn warrior.
What’s your biggest challenge in the mornings — and how do you push through it? Drop it in the comments and let’s lift each other up.
