Standing Firm in Faith: My Meditative Coloring Process

Lately, I’ve been leaning into faith more than ever. This past week, I’ve been home sick with a cold—my fourth day in a row. With MS and being on immunosuppressive drugs, a simple cold doesn’t just pass in a day or two like it used to. It lingers, draining my energy and keeping me from my usual routine. No gym, no trips downstairs, just a lot of rest and patience. But through it all, I’m hanging on, standing firm, and keeping the faith.
One of the ways I’ve been finding peace during this time is through coloring, and I wanted to share my process with you. I recently worked on a page from Bible Verse Coloring for Girls (https://amzn.to/4hLrjcE), and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The verse? “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith.” (1 Corinthians 16:13). It resonated deeply with me because, even while sick, I’m reminded to stay strong—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Why I Love This Coloring Style
This coloring book is exactly my style—thick lines, simple quotes overlaid on patterns, and a great balance between structure and creativity. I love how these designs allow me to play with color, keeping them varied yet cohesive. The bold outlines make it easier to focus, and the simplicity of the quotes makes them feel like affirmations as I work on them.
Coloring, for me, is more than just filling in spaces; it’s meditative. As I color, I reflect on the words, letting them sink in. This time, it was about standing firm—even when I don’t feel my best, even when I can’t do what I normally do. Faith is what carries me through.
My Coloring Process
1. Choosing a Color Palette – I like to pick colors that complement each other but still stand out. For this one, I went with a mix of vibrant oranges, blues, and yellows.
2. Building Layers – I start with lighter colors and then go in with deeper shades to add dimension.
3. Letting it Flow – I don’t overthink it. I let my intuition guide the colors, and that’s part of what makes each page feel personal.
4. Reflection Time – Once I finish, I take a step back, look at the design, and reflect on how the words make me feel.
What This Verse Means to Me
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith.” This isn’t just about spiritual strength; it’s about resilience in all aspects of life. Whether it’s chronic illness, personal struggles, or just feeling off track, faith keeps me anchored.
I’m grateful for this moment of stillness, even if it’s forced. Sometimes, we need these reminders to slow down, be present, and trust that we’re exactly where we need to be.
