Reconnecting With Creativity: Finding Joy, Passion, and the Courage to Try Again
Cat at sunrise.

There’s something magical about creating art that feels so deeply personal—like capturing the quiet beauty of a cat sitting by a window, bathed in the golden hues of a sunrise or sunset. These serene, contemplative moments have become my muse. Through platforms like MidJourney, I’ve been able to turn these fleeting ideas into vivid, tangible works of art, bringing to life the warmth and tranquility of these scenes. It’s this kind of creativity—simple, soulful, and completely freeing—that lights my fire.

But it hasn’t always been easy to stay connected to this passion. Recently, I found myself stuck in a creative rut, weighed down by the technical and business sides of my work. The spreadsheets, strategies, and constant adjustments of advertising felt like the complete opposite of the joy I find in creating art. And it drained me—not just creatively, but emotionally.

That’s when I realized something important: creativity thrives in freedom, not in rigid rules. My spark reignited when I took a course on creating coloring pages. This wasn’t just about making art—it was about rediscovering the kind of creativity that fits my life. With my mobility challenges, traditional arts and crafts can feel overwhelming. Setting up supplies, cleaning up afterward—it’s exhausting. But with digital tools, I can dive straight into the fun part of creating without any of the physical barriers.

Using AI tools to create art was a revelation. I could prompt MidJourney to craft stunning winter scenes, playful holiday imagery, or serene moments like cats watching the sunset. It allowed me to express my imagination in ways I hadn’t thought possible, and it reminded me why I love creating in the first place. Creativity, for me, is about bringing inspiration and beauty into the world—without worrying about perfection.

That doesn’t mean everything I’ve tried has worked out. I’ve spent time and energy on ideas that didn’t pan out, from ad campaigns to wellness journals that felt more like science than art. And yes, it’s frustrating when things don’t go as planned. But I’ve learned to see these moments not as failures, but as lessons. Each one taught me more about what I love—and what I don’t.

Now, I’m focusing on the things that bring me joy: crafting books, creating digital art, and inspiring others through my work. I’m letting go of the pressure to be perfect or to make everything a financial success. Creativity, at its core, isn’t about that. It’s about joy, passion, and the freedom to explore.

So, if you’re feeling stuck, I encourage you to reconnect with what lights you up. Try something new, even if it feels risky. Not everything will work out, but every step you take will bring you closer to the creativity and joy you’re meant to find.

What inspires your creativity? How do you reconnect when you feel stuck? Let’s start a conversation—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
