They are no longer my crutches, but my walking sticks.
Got advice from a friend at the gym today, not to call them crutches any longer. They are my walking sticks. I am not going to use a crutch anymore just to lean on it like a crutch. I don’t need my crutches, I choose to use them to help me walk. This is a far cry from when I switched to crutches Around the time that I had my son. I couldn’t walk anymore because my foot was so distorted and bent out of shape that I couldn’t even put my foot on the floor anymore. I will never forget what I went through during this dark time of mine. Now I continue to march forward and walk straighter another day. I’m not going to put a lot of pressure on myself that I have to walk right again tomorrow. It took me a long time to walk like this now. I will give myself patience and work hard at the gym and spat, which I’ve started again this week. This is going to be a big head for change. This is going to be a big year for me.
Hi Vickie,
I have a few questions that I’d like to ask you if you didn’t mind. After you had the Achilles tendon Z-plasty, did that help with your hip and back pain? I’m also a MS warrior, and in a similar situation that you were in with my Achilles. I tend to avoid surgeries as much as possible, but what you had done seems to really be the best long term solution for my Achilles. I’ve been looking into a C-Brace from Otto Bock, but the only thing that has delayed that has been my insurance, especially since my current KAFO brace was made last year. If you don’t mind me asking, who was your surgeon that did the Achilles tendon Z-plasty, and what state and hospital is he based in? As much as I would love to follow in your footsteps, I just can’t see myself walking without enough added support for my leg. I enjoy reading your blogs, and look forward to future posts!
