Gratitude – Even Kids Need To Learn.

Kidstrong even teaches gratitude to kids.

This week I have been focusing on improving my gratitude for my 13 Virturs self development project. It’s amazing to see all the things that I never really thought of in a whole new light: every little things I come in contact with, every person, every place I go, I try to step back and think of how lucky I am to have this in my life.
One of those experiences is Kidstrong, a local franchise that opened up this summer that gives kids a chance to be led by two coaches through an obstacle course that is changed out every week. Every month there is a different concept that they are taught to encompass everything they are learning. One week was sign language. What do you suppose this weeks ground breaking concept was?
Gratitude.
I had to take a photograph of the television screen that was displaying it for the children and parents waiting for them, just happily taking it all in. From the angle I was seated at it’s kind of hard to see, but the concept was gratitude. They had the children turn around and say thank you to us after explaining to them that they take us here, they wait for us they bring them home. All the things that they should be thankful for. I never really sit down with my son and explain the concept. I never really stop and slow it down for him to explain what it is that we do. And how lucky little boy that he is to partake in such an experience.
Seeing this on the television screen made me slow down and realized that he needs to understand the concept to. It’s a very powerful concept, gratitude, and makes life much more meaningful with everything that you do. Time should slow down for you to appreciate all the things that you have. I may not be able to physically do the things that I want to with Sean, but I can take him someplace and have coaches who are trained and physically capable do the work. To me, it is, some thing I am very grateful for. and for my son, to be thankful that even though his mom couldn’t be physically active with him like she wanted to be, she did her damnedest to take him to places that he could be physically active and have fun with other kids like him. We are all very lucky. And I am very grateful.
